Skoda’s Enyaq iV update brings quicker charge speeds and more functionality

Electric SUV can now be charged at an even better rate.

Skoda has revealed a series of updates for its popular Enyaq iV electric SUV.

Now, all Enyaq iV 80 models built from January 2022 will have their charging speeds beefed up from 125kW to 135kW, meaning even shorter wait times when hooked up to a fast charger. In addition, the Enyaq iV 60 has also had its charging speed improved, increasing from 100kW to 120kW.

Those buyers opting for the all-wheel-drive Enyaq iV 80x, as well as getting that improved charging speed, will also have the bonus of a new ‘Traction Mode’. This works by increasing anti-slip regulation to decisively transfer the split of power between the front and rear wheels. In doing so, you get more traction in slippery conditions or when travelling on loose surfaces.

The inclusion of a new battery care mode also helps to extend the battery’s life by limiting it to only reach 80 per cent charge. This setting is accessed through the car’s main infotainment screen.

That screen has had an update too, however, with updated graphics that allow the driver to see even more information than before. For example, if a driver inputs a destination into the satellite navigation, the screen will now show what the remaining amount of charge will be when they arrive.

Enyaq buyers who opt for the Assisted Drive Package Plus with Travel Assist will also get a few extra features. These include Narrow Lane Assist which allows the car to ‘see’ temporary yellow lines, barriers and other vehicles in order to pilot the Enyaq through narrow spaces. It’s accessed via a steering wheel-mounted button, which gives the driver to switch it on and off when they see fit.
