Skoda has revealed a new Monte Carlo version for its compact Fabia hatchback, bringing sportier styling to the range.
The new trim level completes the range of the new Fabia, with the Monte Carlo nameplate being used for two previous generations of Fabia, along with the Kamiq crossover.
Sitting at the top of the Fabia range – and above the S, SE Comfort, SE L and Colour Edition grades – the Monte Carlo gets sportier looks thanks to a range of gloss black elements. These include a darkened grille, model-specific front and rear bumpers, a black rear diffuser and 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels. Larger 18-inch rims are also available as an optional extra.
Elsewhere it comes with black door mirrors, while gets extended side skirt trim to add to its street cred.
Inside, the Fabia Monte Carlo comes with a digital Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster as standard, which gets specific displays to highlight its sportiness. It also comes with sports seats with integrated and a sports steering wheel, while red accents contrast with the predominantly black cabin.
Standard equipment on the Fabia Monte Carlo also includes LED headlights and an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Monte Carlo will be exclusively offered with the Fabia’s two most powerful turbocharged petrol engines – a 108bhp 1.0-litre unit and a 148bhp 1.5-litre. The former gets the option of a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic, with the 148bhp model automatic-only.
Skoda is yet to announce prices for the Fabia Monte Carlo, but it’s likely to start from around £20,000 when it goes on sale later in the year.
