Porsche expands electric Taycan line-up with new Sport Turismo bodystyle

Estate car-like version adds to the Taycan’s practicality

Porsche has introduced a third bodystyle to its electric Taycan range – the Sport Turismo.

First shown last year at the LA Auto Show on the Taycan GTS, the Sport Turismo is an estate-car like version of this sleek EV, and sits alongside the more rugged-looking Cross Turismo version.

Porsche says the new version ‘appeals to drivers who want to combine the versatility of the Cross Turismo with the on-road dynamics of the Taycan sports saloon’. A broad range of powertrains will be offered, going from the 322bhp rear-wheel-drive Taycan 4S through to the all-wheel-drive 616bhp Turbo S – the latter able to complete the 0-60mph sprint in just 2.8 seconds.

A choice of battery sizes are available, too, with the Sport Turismo offering an electric range of up to 309 miles, while its impressive charging speeds mean that the Taycan’s battery can be charged from five to 80 per cent in as little as 22 minutes.

Unlike the Cross Turismo, rear-wheel-drive is also available on this ‘Sport’ model, while its more practical look gives it 45mm more headroom in the rear, as well as greater room for the driver. A roomier and more versatile boot offers up to 446 litres with the rear seats upright, or 1,217 litres with them folded. There’s also an additional 84 litres of space available under the bonnet.

The Taycan has proven especially popular for Porsche since its introduction in 2020 – now accounting for almost a third of the brand’s total sales in the UK. Britain is also the firm’s second largest market for the EV.

The new Taycan Sport Turismo is on sale from today, with prices starting from £73,650 for the standard car and rising to £140,080 for the Turbo S – making it only around £1,000 more expensive than the equivalent saloon. First deliveries of the new model are expected in May.
