New 2022 Range Rover unveiled

Luxurious off-roader packs more technology than ever.

The new Range Rover has been revealed, showcasing the latest version of the famous luxury four-wheel-drive.

Underpinned by Land Rover’s flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA-Flex), the new Range Rover comes with plug-in hybrid engines capable of delivering a real-world electric range of up to 50 miles between charges. These will be accompanied by more traditional powertrains, including three diesel engines and a twin-turbocharged V8 flagship.

Available in standard and long-wheelbase layouts, the new Range Rover can be fitted with five seats - though the long-wheelbase version can be specified with seven chairs for the first time too.

The front-end design of the fifth-generation car is much the same as that on the previous generation car, but it’s around the back where the most changes have taken place. Referred to as a ‘boat tail’ by Land Rover, it’s far more distinctive than before yet still opens to reveal a usable split-opening tailgate.

Step through the new power-assisted doors - which have integrated hazard detection and anti-pinch safety features - and you’ll notice the new 13.1-inch floating screen running the latest Pivo Pro system. This is accompanied by a 13.7-inch interactive driver display, which can be configured to show a variety of different readouts.

As well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the new Range Rover has Alexa voice artificial intelligence built in as standard, allowing owners to use Alexa capabilities in the car itself - you can even turn on your lights at home from the vehicle. A new rear-seat entertainment system can be fitted too, providing adjustable 11.4-inch high-definition touchscreens mounted on the rear of the front seatbacks.

Drivers are also able to remotely control the Range Rover from outside the vehicle using the Remote Park Assist, accessed via a smartphone app. With it, you can move the SUV in and out of parking spaces while the driver checks on how the car is progressing.

All models come with all-wheel-steering as standard, providing improved agility at low speeds, while fully independent air suspension helps to create a cushioned, refined ride. The latest all-wheel-drive system is fitted too, as well as an active locking rear differential which can help when getting out of the stickiest of conditions. It’s all accessed via Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 system.

A range of eco-friendly fabrics such as a new material that combines Ultrafabrics and Kvadrat wool-blend are offered as alternatives to traditional leathers, while a new Range Rover SV - on sale later in 2022 - will deliver increased scope for personalisation thanks to help from Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team.

The new Range Rover is available to configure now, with prices starting from £94,400.
