Fisker Ocean EV makes European debut at Mobile World Congress

New electric SUV is currently on show in Barcelona

The Fisker Ocean has gone on show in Europe for the first time at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress.

The new electric SUV is the first model to come from Fisker since it was relaunched, with the brand having bold aims as its models are introduced across Europe and the US.

Fisker has also confirmed it will come to the UK too in right-hand-drive form, with the five-seat Fisker Ocean Sport having a starting price of £34,900. This standard SUV has a range of 275 miles, though a high-spec Extreme model will also be launched. This features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and far larger battery offering up to 390 miles of claimed range. Fisker says it also boasts a ‘host of first-to-market safety features’.

CEO Henrik Fisker said: "Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is the ideal place to showcase the Fisker Ocean, as our vehicle is full of advanced technology, including over-the-air offerings that we will take to a new level

"With the Fisker Ocean's combination of performance, value and sustainability, I believe we have a unique electric vehicle with industry-first features, such as California Mode, a 17.1-inch rotating screen and the longest range in our segment".

Fisker is aiming for production to start in November, with 47 prototypes currently being built as the brand begins the testing process. It will be produced by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria.

Other highlights on it include a ‘fully vegan’ interior, and an electric boot window that’s activated when ‘California’ mode is activated

The American brand is showing its commitment to Europe by setting up an office in Munich as its regional headquarters, while the firm has also set up a ‘Magic Works’ division in the UK, which will develop ‘special editions of the company’s vehicles alongside new, high-performance projects’. First right-hand-drive deliveries of the Fisker Ocean are expected in the middle of 2023.

The Mobile World Congress runs from today (February 28) until March 3 in Barcelona.
