2022 Citroen C5 Aircross revealed with revised styling and new interior technology

Citroen has unveiled a revised version of its popular mid-size C5 Aircross SUV, which benefits from modernised styling and a new touchscreen.

The C5 Aircross was launched as the French firm’s largest SUV in 2018, with more than 260,000 examples being produced since. Many of the changes announced affect its design, with the front end benefitting from elements seen on the recently-updated C3 Aircross and large C5X. These include a smart new grille that runs into both Citroen’s chevron logo and also into sharp new LED headlights. New lower skid plates also aim to give it a more rugged look.

There’s a new 18-inch alloy wheel design too, while customers can continue to benefit from enhanced personalisation with colour packs, which bring a two-tone look to the front air intakes and the lower door trim, the latter of which is known as ‘Airbumps’.

Inside, the C5 Aircross gets a larger 10-inch touchscreen, which is said to offer improved ergonomics thanks to new shortcut buttons. Higher-spec models also benefit from a customisable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Citroen is also continuing to prioritise comfort, with this updated model bringing the brand’s latest ‘Advanced Comfort Seats’, which offer greater cushioning. The seats boast new patterns, while there’s the option of Alcantara and perforated leather materials. The C5 Aircross benefits from a modernised centre console too, with higher-quality materials used. A small gear selector on automatic versions has also been fitted in place of a conventional gear lever, freeing up extra cabin space.

As before, the C5 Aircross is available with a range of petrol and diesel engines, along with a plug-in hybrid version that offers an electric range of up to 34 miles.

Citroen says the updated C5 Aircross will go on sale in the middle of the year, with a slight increase on the current car’s £25,360 starting price expected.
