Mini is well-known for its iconic Hatch, but this brand has plenty more to offer.
There’s the popular Countryman SUV, as well as the well-loved Convertible, but you also can’t forget the funky Clubman. This hatchback-cross-estate features cool twin-opening rear doors, while offering a practical interior that goes down well with dog-owners. It’s good to drive and has a high-quality cabin as well.
Here’s what you need to know about it.
What engines are available?
Mini offers a choice of three petrol engines on the Clubman – Cooper, Cooper S and John Cooper Works. All versions these days come paired with an automatic gearbox too.
Starting with the Cooper, which uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit developing 134bhp and 220Nm of torque. Accelerating from 0-60mph takes nine seconds, and it would go on a top speed of 128mph. In terms of fuel economy, Mini claims up to 47.1mpg, with 135g/km CO2 emissions.
The Cooper S adopts a 2.0-litre unit that puts out 176bhp and 280Nm of torque, dropping the 0-60mph time to seven seconds, while the top speed increases to 142mph. Mini claims a consumption figure of 44.8mpg, with 144g/km CO2 emissions too.
At the top of the line-up is the John Cooper Works, which is also four-wheel-drive. Its 2.0-litre engine is the most powerful ever fitted to a production Mini, and produces 302bhp and 480Nm of torque, allowing for a 0-60mph time of just 4.7 seconds and a 155mph top speed. Mini also gives a fuel efficiency figure of 38.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 169g/km.
What trim levels are offered?
There are five different versions of the Clubman available for 2023, with equipment highlights and prices of each detailed below.
Classic – from £27,015
All Clubmans get a good level of standard equipment, including 16-inch alloy wheels, an electronic handbrake, LED headlights, cruise control, an 8.8-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and Apple CarPlay, as well as climate control, keyless entry, heated front seats and rear parking sensors.
Sport – from £34,090
Sport versions aren’t available in conjunction with the Cooper engine, hence the jump in price, but it brings upgraded 18-inch John Cooper Works alloy wheels, Chilli Red as the free colour, along with a sporty styling pack and a larger roof spoiler. It also features sports suspension, sports seats and part–Dinamica sports seats.
Exclusive – from £30,215
Exclusive models build on the Classic with their stylish 18-inch alloy wheels, Enigmatic Black paint, silver roof and mirrors, leather sports seats and anthracite headlining.
John Cooper Works – from £39,945
The John Cooper Works brings black 18-inch alloy wheels, with large 17-inch brake discs, along with a black styling pack and a Torsen mechanical differential. The sports seats are trimmed in leather and Dinamica too. At the same time, other additional equipment includes a digital cockpit display, wireless smartphone charging, head-up display, panoramic sunroof and a Harman Kardon sound system.
Untold Edition – from £35,575
Mini also currently has a special Untold Edition in its range. Available purely with the Cooper S engine, it stands out with its standard Sage Green body colour, gold finishing and bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels. The leather is also finished in Sage Green, while adaptive LED headlights are also fitted.
What about personalisation?
With a broad range of Clubman models to choose from, there’s already lots that can be done to personalise this Mini – particularly with the Untold special edition. However, there are 11 regular colours that can be chosen from, while the bonnet stripes and roof and door mirrors are available in a contrasting colour.
A funky Multi-tone roof can also be optioned, while customers can choose between various leather colours. Other optional extras available include a space saver wheel, tinted rear glass and black roof rails.
