Citroen is growing its electrified range at an impressive rate, with many of its models already available as either a hybrid or EV.
One of its most popular options though is the e-C4 – a funky electric hatchback that makes a great family car, while offering cool SUV-like styling that sets it apart from the crowd. Putting a strong focus on comfort and value for money, this EV is a tempting proposition in this increasingly congested segment.
Citroen has also recently tweaked it for 2022, revising the trim levels and meaning customers now get more for their money. Here’s what you need to know about the 2022 Citroen e-C4.
What powertrains are available?
Just a single powertrain is offered on the e-C4, and it’s one that’s widely used across models from Citroen, Vauxhall and Peugeot.
Using an electric motor developing 134bhp and 300Nm of torque, the e-C4 is able to hit 0-60mph in 9.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 93mph.
It also packs a 50kWh battery, which is able to manage up to a claimed 217 miles from a single charge. It can be charged pretty quickly too, as when using a 100kW DC rapid charger, its battery could be replenished to 80 per cent in as little as half an hour. Plugged in at home with a dedicated wallbox, it would take around seven and a half hours.
What trim levels are offered?
Citroen offers three trim levels on the e-C4 – Sense, Shine Edition and Shine Plus. Equipment highlights and prices are as follows.
Sense – from £28,495 (including government grant)
All e-C4 models come with plenty of equipment, with highlights including cruise control, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition. You also get rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, automatic lights and wipers, keyless entry, a digital instrument cluster and 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Shine Edition – from £30,495 (including government grant)
Upgrade to the Shine Edition and it brings blind-spot monitoring, a heated steering wheel, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, front parking sensors, high beam assist and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror
Shine Plus – from £34,995
At the top of the range, the Shine Plus adds highway assist with adaptive cruise control, part-leather seats, heated front seats and a wireless smartphone charging plate.
What about personalisation?
Citroen is a firm that prides itself on its personalisation, and while the design of the e-C4 already makes it stand out, you can go much further. For starters, there are seven colours to choose from – including the bright Iceland Blue and Caramel Brown, while you can choose five ‘Colour Packs’ too. These bring a different colour to details such as the lower bumpers and side sills, and certainly add to the style.
Other more conventional optional extras on offer include a panoramic sunroof (£800), electric driver’s seat with massaging function (£150) and an upgraded sound system for £350.
