We say Reliable and well made, the Corsa comes with a massive range of engines and offer plenty of choice in a strong all-round supermini.Performance There’s a good choice of petrol and diesel options on the Corsa with the 90bhp 1.3-litre diesel the pick. Go for a manual box. SRi and VXR models provide hot-hatch mentalism, particularly the bonkers VXR. If you want a bit more performance from your diesel, there’s a 1.7-litre 128bhp CDTi option that clears 60mph in 9.2 seconds.Emissions All of the Corsa’s diesel engines are excellent in terms of running costs but the 1.3-litre CDTi 94bhp unit with ecoFLEX eco-technology is one of the leading units on the market, returning more than 78mpg and emitting just 94g/km.Driving A stiff chassis means you can throw the Corsa around corners with confidence because there's plenty of grip. Some high-end trim levels have a stiffer suspension setup as well, improving handling again and limiting bodyroll around corners. Sadly, there’s not much feedback through the wheel and steering is light and flimsy which can leave you guessing about lock.Feel Less powerful engines will roar when pushed and there's some road and wind noise. The ride is firm but not enough to become uncomfortable on standard models but those with stiffer suspension setups are harsh around town.Space With a 285-litre boot at the rear of the Corsa, it’s quite a practical little car, especially when you consider that the load space expands to around 1,100-litres when the rear seats are folded, even if they don’t fold flat against the floor. There’s plenty of room inside for passengers at the front and rear as well.Equipment CD player is standard on all trim levels but most other features will be on a higher trim level or optional. That can force the price of the Corsa up rapidly and intruth, equipment levels are mean on the popular supermini.Price The Vauxhall Corsa is a well priced supermini and it’s competitive in terms of running costs, too, particularly those with Vauxhall’s latest ecoFLEX diesel engines. List prices start from around £9,500 and rise to almost £19,000. That means there are plenty of options open to buyers.Quality The interior of the Corsa is a nice place to be. There’s plenty of soft-touch, durable surfaces and materials throughout the cabin and, unlike in the Astra, the dashboard layout is excellent and sensible rather than poor and awkward.Safety Two airbags, ABS and ISOFIX child seat mountings are minimum on every model.Pros The Corsa is a brilliant all rounder. It’s good to drive, comes with a solid and high-quality interior and a wide range of diesel engines that can dramatically reduce running costs.Cons Vauxhall has been mean inside the Corsa and limited the amount of kit that comes as standard.
