Performance
3.0- and 3.2-litre petrols producing a powerful 265bhp and 343bhp respectively were initially available, but the former is more common. It sprints to 62mpg in 5.7 seconds so doesn’t want for power. There’s a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional semi-autbox controlled with steering-wheel-mounted paddles.
Emissions
CO2 emissions are north of 200g/km with either transmission in the 3.0-litre model and fuel economy isn’t great.
Driving
Superb, grippy, predictable handling; steers like a dream. Loads of driver help from safety aids if required.
Feel
A pleasing engine noise from the throaty engine and the Z4’s suspension is fairly supple.
Space
Not a lot of space in the Z4 Coupe’s cabin but there's a decent boot at 340 litres.
Equipment
CD player, alloys, air-con, electric roof as standard. Sportier trim and styling is available for more cash.
Price
Z4 Coupe running costs are high with the petrol engine, but residuals are good, and the Z4 compares well in relation to rivals.
Quality
Predictably well put-together and smart inside.
Safety
Four airbags and stability/traction control are standard.
Pros
Great materials inside the cabin; petrol engine is a strong performer and the drive is superb.
Cons
Not the roomiest in the sector and dear to run.
