BMW marks the 50th anniversary of its M performance division by unveiling the plug-in hybrid BMW XM SUV, only the second standalone M car after the M1 supercar. Although the XM isn't a conventional M model, it promises performance emblematic of the M badge. The XM's powertrain, a hybrid of a 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine and an electric motor, generates a combined 644bhp and 800Nm of torque, rivaling vehicles like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid and Aston Martin DBX 707. A more potent 'Label Red' edition with 748bhp is slated for 2023.
