Production of electric Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV begins

Sleeker electric SUV will soon be arriving with customers

Just a fortnight after its reveal, Skoda has announced that production of its electric Enyaq Coupe iV has started.

Joining the regular SUV bodystyle, the Coupe brings a sleeker design thanks to its sloping roofline, which gives it more of a stylish look, as well as improving the model’s aero – meaning it can travel up to an impressive 339 miles from a single charge. Skoda is still promising ‘generous space’, with 570 litres of boot space and a panoramic glass roof as standard.

The new Coupe model will be built on the same MEB electric car platform as the standard Enyaq, with production already underway at Skoda’s plant in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic. The firm says 120 units of this model will be produced each day, with the Enyaq being the only model built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform to be made outside of Germany.

Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda board member for production and logistics, said: “Last year, we produced 50,000 units of the Skoda Enyaq iV. Now we are taking it to the next level by launching production of the new Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV.

“I would like to congratulate the team on the successful completion of the preparation phase. It’s a great honour for the entire team that the coupé version of our successful electric SUV is also being produced at the heart of the brand, in Mladá Boleslav.”

Alongside the sleeker styling, the introduction of this Coupe model also sees the launch of an Enyaq vRS – Skoda’s first electric sports model. Sold alongside more affordable battery options, this version features twin electric motors producing 295bhp and 460Nm of torque – enabling a 0-60mph time of just 6.3 seconds. Prices for the vRS version start from £51,885, with full pricing for the rest of the range still to be announced.
