Peugeot announces updates to 208 and 2008

Electric models get a longer range, and revised trim levels

Peugeot has announced tweaks to its compact 208 and 2008 models, which include the electric models receiving a longer range.

Both the 208 supermini and compact 2008 SUV are offered as EVs, using a 134bhp battery linked to a 50kWh battery. They each also include 100kW rapid charging capability, meaning an 80 per cent top-up of the battery takes just 30 minutes.

The electric e-208 and e-2008 also both now benefit from a slightly longer range, thanks to a range of efficiency tweaks. These include the introduction of lower rolling resistance tyres, while a new ‘gearbox ratio’ helps to optimise the electric range at higher speeds. There’s also an improved heat pump, which is more able to heat and cool the interior more effectively.

It means the 2022 model year e-208 and e-2008 can now travel eight miles further from a full charge than before, with the e-208 able to travel for up to 225 miles now, or 214 miles on the e-2008.

On both Peugeot models the entry-level Allure trim level has been discontinued, with each car’s new standard trim being Active Premium. The French form says it’s done this ‘due to customer preferences for higher specification vehicles’.

Other slight changes include gloss black door mirrors now being fitted to all versions, while there’s a new Mistral Black Alcantara interior trim option available on the flagship GT Premium trim level of the 2008.

The changes come into effect from the start of 2022.
