Nissan is one of the UK’s biggest automotive success stories, with its Sunderland factory being the largest individual production site in the UK.
This brand essentially created the crossover segment we know today and continues to lead in this area. It’s also an important player in the electric car world and a big hitter in the commercial vehicle segment.
Let’s take a look at all the new Nissan models you can buy today.
Juke – from £20,695
Now that the Micra supermini has been discontinued, the Juke is now Nissan’s most affordable model, with a starting price of £20,695. It was the first true compact crossover, and despite facing more opposition than ever, it’s able to hold its own with its fun and funky exterior design.
Packed with technology and equipment, Nissan has also recently introduced a new hybrid powertrain, bringing improved performance and efficiency – the firm claims 55.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 115g/km.
Qashqai – from £26,045
One of the biggest UK automotive success stories, the Qashqai is currently Britain’s most popular car overall, and offers vast appeal to a whole range of customers. Renowned for its practical and family-focused interior, the Qashqai’s sharp design (particularly in high-spec grades) elevates its appeal.
The level of standard equipment, particularly safety kit, is also seriously impressive, while the addition of a new electrified e-Power hybrid powertrain is going down well with customers – offering lots more performance but also lower running costs.
Leaf – from £28,995
The Leaf was one of the first mass-market electric cars, and a generation later, it’s still a popular choice in the EV market. It’s a family hatchback of a similar size to a Vauxhall Astra, offering plenty of interior space and a particularly decent boot.
Two battery options are available on the Nissan Leaf – a 39kWh version offering a range of 168 miles and a 59kWh version that takes the range up to 239 miles. With a starting price of £28,995, the Leaf is one of the more affordable EVs on the market.
X-Trail – from £32,030
The X-Trail is one of Nissan’s longest-running nameplates and has evolved from a rugged 4x4 to a large family crossover. The X-Trail has recently returned for a brand new generation, bringing new hybrid powertrains and overhauled technology.
The X-Trail can also be optioned with seven seats, which is quite a rarity in this class and makes it the most practical Nissan on the market today.
Ariya – from £46,145
Another new entry to Nissan’s line-up in 2022 is the Ariya – a bespoke new EV that aims to take this Japanese brand further upmarket. That’s shown by its stunning interior, including wooden trim with haptic buttons etched into it.
This sharp-looking coupe-SUV is available with two powertrain options – a 63kWh unit and an 87kWh battery, allowing for a range of 250 and 329 miles respectively. But it’s that interior that’s really the talking point.
Townstar – from £19,745 (excluding VAT)
Moving over to Nissan’s commercial vehicle line-up, it’s the compact Townstar that kicks off proceedings. It’s a brand-new model for the firm, bringing compact dimensions but also impressive versatility.
Twined with the Mercedes Citan and Renault Kangoo, the Townstar is also available as an electric van, where it offers a range of up to 183 miles.
Primastar – from £27,390 (excluding VAT)
If you want a practical medium-sized van, the Primastar is the way to go. Now boasting a bolder look, this Nissan is available with a range of engines and gets a host of technology and connected services to aid its appeal.
Replacing the old NV300, all Primastars get a decent level of equipment, including cruise control, LED headlights, Bluetooth and an alarm.
Interstar
If you want the most from your Nissan van, it’s the Interstar that is the way to go – replacing the NV400. Available in a whole host of configurations to suit a range of buyers, this van is impressively practical.
Offering up to 14.8m-cubed cargo space and a payload of up to 1,587kg, front- and rear-wheel-drive versions are available. Combined with twin rear wheels, it can also tow up to 3,500kg.
