Mini range 2022: What’s available?

Let’s take a look at what this fun British brand has to offer

Since BMW reinvented Mini in the early 2000s, this is a brand that has continued to go from strength to strength.

No longer just selling small hatchbacks, Mini now offers more practical solutions, as well as an increasingly electrified range, including both EVs and hybrids - and there are far more options on the way too.

But what Mini models are available today? Let’s take a look…

Mini 3-Door Hatch – from £17,405

The best-known and most-loved model in the Mini line-up, the 3-Door Hatch is a model that prides itself on style, with its funky and much-loved design appealing alongside the huge personalisation possibilities.

It’s also great fun to drive, and kitted out with a great range of engines, including Cooper S and John Cooper Works hot hatch models. Its £17,405 starting price also makes it good value for money, though it is quite small inside.

Mini 5-Door Hatch – from £18,105

If you find the standard Mini 3-Door Hatch just too small, it’s worth looking at its more practical 5-Door sibling. Of course, the greatest change is the extra two rear doors, though it’s also a bit longer too – meaning it has more rear-seat space, along with a roomier boot.

However, it’s still a very stylish model to look at, while the high-quality interior and fun driving experience make it one of the best superminis on the market.

Mini Electric – from £27,000

One of the latest additions to Mini’s range is the Electric. Based on the 3-Door Hatch, it sees its engine ripped out and replaced with a powerful electric motor that gives it similar performance to the standard petrol Cooper S. It’s huge fun to drive, whether you’re in the city or somewhere a bit more open.

It’s becoming an increasingly popular model for Mini, as more buyers look to make the switch to electric. Its claimed range of 145 miles will limit its appeal to those regularly doing longer trips, though.

Mini Convertible – from £22,105

If you want top-down thrills all-year round, you should take a look at the Mini Convertible. It’s the best-selling model of its type, with its electric canvas roof unlocking a whole new avenue of appeal to the Mini.

Like the standard Hatch, it’s a lot of fun to drive, and gets a high-quality interior too. You’re unlikely to buy it for its value, but it’s also worth noting that it’s one of the most affordable new convertibles on the market.

Mini Clubman – from £23,505

The most unusual model in Mini’s range, the Clubman is characterised and known for its oddball twin-opening boot doors. There’s plenty more to the Clubman than that, though, as this Volkswagen Golf rival looks the part and is great fun to drive.

Models also come with plenty of standard equipment, while there’s a flagship John Cooper Works model that packs a powerful 302bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine, enabling a sub-five-second 0-60mph time.

Mini Countryman – from £25,305

If you want a Mini SUV, the Countryman is your only option for the time being. It’s by far the firm’s most practical model, with a roomy and usable interior that makes it ideal for family duties.

However, the Countryman retains the same charming style, quality and fun that’s offered across the Mini range, while the plentiful range of petrol engines mean there will be something to suit most – from affordable Cooper versions through to the flagship John Cooper Works.

Mini Countryman Plug-in Hybrid – from £34,500

Mini also offers a plug-in hybrid version of its Countryman – bringing the combination of sportiness and low running costs to this family crossover.

Bringing together a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, it kicks out 217bhp in total, though of more interest will be its 30-mile electric range, with Mini claiming you get up to 166.2mpg, along with CO2 emissions of just 40g/km.
