Audi’s updated A8 arrives with new look and more tech

High-end saloon gains a series of enhancements

Audi has unveiled an updated version of its A8, bringing a fresh new design and more technological advancements to the range-topping saloon.

Set to go on sale in the UK on December 2 priced from £73,375, the new A8 boasts a wider grill than before, with side air intakes that have been made upright.

Around the back, the A8 retains its eye-catching lightbar, but the rear lights themselves have been kitted out with OLED technology. Buyers also have the option of a new S line specification, giving the car a sportier, more dynamic appearance. Audi has added five new matte colours to the A8’s choice of exterior shades, too.

Things stay much the same inside the cabin of the A8, with the same 10.1-inch infotainment display and 8.6-inch digital cockpit fitted as before. However, those in the rear of the car can now benefit from a pair of 10.1-inch displays, which can be used to mirror content from a passenger’s smartphone or used to stream films and television from major platforms.

The A8’s list of engines remains just as varied as before, with a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel kicking off the range. This is then added to with a more powerful 4.0-litre V8 and a plug-in hybrid in the A8 TFSI e.

The S8 tops the range with its twin-turbocharged V8 engine, pushing out 563bhp and 800Nm of torque.

The A8 is also fitted out with predictive active suspension. Utilising a camera operating in conjunction with the car’s steering, this system can ‘see’ the road ahead and look out for any imperfections. Should it detect any, it can automatically adjust the suspension, providing a smooth and comfortable ride.
