Volkswagen offers one of the most comprehensive commercial vehicle line-ups around, ranging from small panel vans up to large campervans and pick-up trucks.
But what models can you get from Volkswagen’s commercial arm and what can you do to them? We take a brief look at each…
Caddy
The smallest offering from the German brand, and one that is available in three major guises. The Life people carrier is an activity vehicle with a more car-like feel, while the Maxi Kombi combines the people carrying ability of the Life and the practicality of the Panel van version. The most business-suited option is the Panel van, which comes with two seats and a flat rear space with up to 4.2m3of loading area.
Transporter
Arguably the most recognisable van in VW’s line-up, as it has been through six generations – starting with the T1 ‘Splittie’ back in the late 1950s. Now, the Transporter is the base for the Caravelle and California, as well as a series of vehicles under its own umbrella – such as the Shuttle, Panel van and Single Cab. The Kombi is also available, which is the best of both worlds.
Crafter
This is the largest van that Volkswagen offers and it is the one with the most recent update, so now comes with an impressive amount of safety equipment and driver assists, such as post-collision braking, front assist with city braking and park assist. Like the Transporter, it also comes with a Single Cab offering, while Volkswagen also makes a Dropside model that comes with a high-sided flat bed with folding panels.
Amarok
The Amarok is Volkswagen’s pick-up and it comes with a range of 3.0-litre V6 diesel engines that provide plenty of power and torque. It is also one of the best driving pick-ups about, feeling much more suited to the road than many of its rivals. With seating for four and high-end models providing excellent levels of tech, the Amarok is one of the best pick-ups around.
Caravelle
Suited to carrying multiple passengers in comfort, the Caravelle comes with a series of quality features and finishes to make for a pleasant people carrier to be in. The interior seating layout is also very adaptable, with customers able to move the rear bench and captain’s chairs around easily, while all Caravelles come with excellent safety systems to keep everyone on-board secure.
California
This is Volkswagen’s purpose-built campervan and is available in two body types – the standard and the larger Grand California. The standard model is available in the Beach and Ocean trims, with the Ocean providing customers with one of the best packages in the campervan market. Based on the new Crafter, the Grand California is a more opulent offering, with the large camper coming with a shower, full kitchen and space for four.
