The latest Mazda3 is arriving on UK shores imminently and looks set to take the family hatchback segment by storm.

What engines are available?
At launch, two engines will be available for the Mazda3 — a petrol and a diesel.
We’ll focus on the Skyactiv-G petrol first. The 2.0-litre unit develops 120bhp and 213Nm of torque, which is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission. With the former, 0-60mph comes in 10.2 seconds while a top speed of 126mph is possible. As for efficiency, Mazda claims 44.8mpg is possible while emitting 142g/km of CO2.
As for the Skyactiv-D diesel option, that outputs 114bhp and 270Nm of torque. Gearbox options reflect the petrol engine, and when paired to a manual the diesel 3 can hit 60mph in 10.1 seconds and can achieve a 124mph top speed. Mazda says it’ll manage 55.4mpg while emitting 133g/km of CO2.
Later this year, the Japanese firm will also introduce Skyactiv-X for the 3 — a petrol engine that is promised to deliver the torque and efficiency of a diesel.
What trim options are in the range?
Five trim options are available in the Mazda3 range, and equipment highlights are as follows:
SE-L — from £20,595
Head-up display, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, LED headlights, 8.8-inch infotainment display with satellite navigation and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support, 16-inch alloy wheels, eight-speaker audio system
SEL-Lux — from £21,695
Features from SE-L + reversing camera, smart keyless entry, heated front seats
Sport Lux — from £22,795
Features from SEL-Lux + additional chrome interior details, frameless rear-view mirror, rear privacy glass, 18-inch alloy wheels
GT Sport — from £24,595
Features from Sport Lux + black leather seats, heated steering wheel, Bose audio system
GT Sport Tech — from £25,496
Features from GT Sport + additional safety equipment including 360-degree camera and Driver Attention Alert
What about personalisation?
Mazda has yet to reveal the full suite of personalisation options available for the Mazda3, but there’s set to be a whole host of metallic and solid paint options — with Soul Red Crystal our pick of the bunch.
As for the cabin, the hatchback is available with a full black interior — although a combination white/black leather option could arrive later down the line as it’s available on the US-spec saloon.
