We say Not a bad car, but given its resale value problems and the fact that it's overpriced to start with, it's hard to recommend.Performance The 2.2-litre 170bhp diesel and 3.0-litre V6 petrol are the engines to go for here. The others are either not powerful enough or too expensive to run.Emissions Emissions are standard for a large executive saloon but recent advances from the likes of BMW and Mercedes leave it looking old in terms of green credentials.Driving A superb cruiser, but not good for much else in comparison to the competition. Handling is helped by stability control and traction control but not on par with rivals.Feel Smooth and quiet - it'll make a good motorway cruiser, which is exactly what Peugeot designed it for. No complaints here.Space Not the best space for passengers considering the 607's size, though the boot is huge and is extended by split folding seats if needed.Equipment Leather, climate control, CD autochanger, satnav, cruise control...the list goes on. One kit level only, but it's rammed with equipment for the price you will pay.Price Some truly appalling residuals make the 607 a tough car to buy. Diesel running costs will take a little of the sting out of the terrible resale values.Quality Looks and feels good inside with strong engines to boot. The Peugeot 607 is a big step up in quality for the brand but will always be held back in the executive market by the badge.Safety Seven airbags, ABS and plenty more besides. Safety is not an issue with the Peugeot 607 although it has fallen behind newer rivals because it is more than a decade old now.Pros The Peugeot 607 looks great and has a huge amount of kit for the price. It is an excellent cruiser and offers plenty of space in the boot.Cons Resale value will drop like a stone. Drive is lacking compared to other models in the class. Would anyone choose Peugeot over more executive brands?Alternatives Saab 9-5, BMW 5-Series, Volvo S60, Citroen C6
